Regular Well Pet visits keep your pet healthy and help them live longer. At Northwest Animal Hospital, we recommend annual Well Pet visits at a minimum. If your pet is over 7 years of age, a Well Pet visit every six months is recommended. More frequent examinations in older pets enables us to detect diseases early when we have the best chance of treating them. It also gives us a chance to evaluate the overall health of your pet and make recommendations for preventing illness. Many signs of early illness are subtle in dogs and cats but our professional veterinary team knows what to look for and what questions to ask to ensure your pet lives a long and healthy life.

In addition to a full health exam, we will discuss your pet’s lifestyle and vaccination recommendations. We base vaccinations on your pet’s individual risk factors. We will discuss the best way to keep your pet healthy without giving unnecessary vaccinations. A blood sample is drawn at the Well Pet visit to monitor internal organ health and diseases like heartworm infections. Annual blood testing enables us to monitor for subtle changes or trends in internal organs that can signal an early disease.
